We've all heard of stories of people that overcome the worst possible odds and find themselves standing on a hill of decaying flesh, shining with the mere awesomeness of what they've accomplished. This is one of those stories. Except, instead of a fully capable, well-built, easily adaptable adult, it's a dog. You heard me right, a dog. If you thought that "a man's best friend" was overrated, wait until you hear the story of Judy.
Judy was one of the many dogs born in the Shanghai Dog Kennels in 1937; she was a first class pure bred liver and White Pointer. However, she was offered to the Royal Navy as a typical animal mascot at a very young age. Thankfully, the Royal Navy accepted the offer and took her in to help raise morale for their men. Wise decision.
She was assigned to the HMS Gnat, which was a a small, well-armed ship used for shallow rivers or near the shore. The ship was primarily used in China at the time of Judy's employment. At first, she had a rocky start getting adjusted to the new setting and at one point, fell overboard into the Yangtze River. But despite that, Judy wasn't the type of dog to simply sit around and look cute. She was known by the crew to be able to pinpoint out hostile Japanese aircrafts long before anyone in the human crew could hear them.

Why We Can't Simply Print More Money
So you're walking around a volcano minding your own business, when you trip over a bag labeled "Infinite Money". (I know, I'm not very good with examples.) You open it up, and find thousands of dollars in different currencies, after taking out a stack of the money, you find out that the sack replenishes itself. Do you take the bag and store it away for a rainy Friday, or do you toss it down the volcano? This article isn't a trick question with cliche answers such as possibly lose all your friends, or have people kill you. (Even though those are perfectly good reasons.) We're here to talk about actual things that are extremely likely to happen.
Here's a reminder of your mortality. Bam. Feel free to take a moment to reflect on life.

3 of The Most Powerful Computers In the World
Computers, where would we be without them? I'd be willing to bet fifty bucks, that you're looking at your computer screen right now. Don't worry about it, I'll put it on your tab.
The Top500 Project ranks and details the most fastest non-commercial computers in the world. What does that mean? You probably wouldn't be able to go to your local computer store, and pick one up for seven hundred dollars. (Not in this economy!)
Jaguar
After the developers created the fastest computer in 2009, they decided to give it a hardcore name to scare the competition. They even went as far as putting a picture of a Jaguar on the giant computers, probably to make everyone urinate as they entered the room. What's that? Oh yeah, it fit an entire room. Not really something the developers would throw in the sedan, drive to their friends house, and play War of Warcraft.
"I can play WoW on the highest settings." *Flexes* |
The supercomputer was created by Patriotic Americans at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The computer was clocked at 2.5 quadrillion calculations per second. (It'll take a lot of calculators to beat that.) The whole computer included 224,256 AMD Opteron processors.
